We are aware that we are not alone concerning our purposes and considering strength in numbers, we have adhered to multilateral organizations, governments, companies, academia, and others that are engaged in building a just and more prosperous society.

Joining their initiatives means developing and promoting actions that are coherent with sustainability, aimed at development to balance economic growth with social progress and environmental protection. We contribute to critical importance spheres that define the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development: people, planet, prosperity, peace and alliances.


    We make contributions intended for the people through the generation of intelligent energy and programs, which are focused on the development and well-being of our stakeholders, within an ethical framework to preserve freedom, equality and participation.


    We contribute with the planet through the development of clean energy such as hydroelectricity and the study of other renewable sources such as wind and solar energy. We also implement a comprehensive environmental management that includes water and climate change, preservation of biodiversity, and protection of natural resources.


    We contribute to prosperity as our energy enables progress in society and we go beyond that through the implementation of programs to strengthen competitiveness in the regions and people's development.


    We contribute to citizen coexistence through respect for human rights and their promotion among our stakeholders and the society. We support the communities for a participative building of their territories based on equality principles and respect for difference with others.


    We build partnerships with local and global players to think jointly, share practices and knowledge, set benchmarks and standards for continuous improvement, and develop actions and plans where we can all share our skills.

Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015 we committed to these 2030 global goals, which were agreed on by 193 counties and are the new challenge for the international community to fulfill actions pending from the previous Millennium Development Objectives (MDO). These are aimed at structural, comprehensive and balanced changes, based on universality, equity, commitment and sustainability principles.

Opposed to MDOs, SDGs include new challenges such as economic inequality, climate change, peace, justice and sustainable consumption.

SDGs are focused on people, planet, dignity, justice, prosperity and association. They propose building peace and efficient, open, responsible institutions that contribute to the irreversible reduction of poverty, aimed at a true sustainable global development.

At ISAGEN we prioritize six of them, which are related to our business and philosophy, and strive for achieving them within our Company's core activities.

Global Compact

This United Nations approach recognizes that the development of humanity depends largely on achieving sustainable global dynamics based on universal principles that contribute to build a more prosperous society.

We adhered in 2005 and implemented in our management the ten principles of this initiative in areas such as human rights, labor standards, environment and anti-corruption. Since then, we have participated actively in actions of the Global Compact local network, and have promoted these principles among our stakeholders.

Human Rights

We are committed to the respect and promotion of human rights, addressing the following principles of the global initiative:

  • Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
  • Principle 2: Businesses must make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labor practices

Our commitment with good labor practices extends to the value chain. We have implemented the Human Management Integral Model to promote building employees' competences as well as the Policy on engagement with suppliers to promote ethical and collaborative relationships. We thus embrace four Global Compact principles related to labor standards:

  • Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
  • Principle 4: Business should eliminate all forms of forced and compulsory labor.
  • Principle 5: Business must effectively abolish child labor.
  • Principle 6: Businesses must eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

We promote good environmental practices among stakeholders, for example through the Environmental Management Plans developed with the communities in the areas of influence. Furthermore, our projects are aimed at the generation of renewable energy, clean development mechanisms and energy efficiency, thus abiding by the three principles of this initiative:

  • Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
  • Principle 8: Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
  • Principle 9: Businesses must encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

We join this initiative through instruments to promote, assess and secure compliance with ethics as a core value and with corporate governance practices. We evidence our support to the last principle of Global Compact:

  • Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Agreement for Sustainability

We joined this association-based initiative from Andesco in 2014, which is aimed at promoting economic, social and balanced economic development. This commitment involves public utility and communication companies, where interests, duties and rights of the whole society converge, aimed at sustainable development.

We subscribed to this Agreement recognizing that public utility and communication companies influence the building of ethical, innovating and responsible businesses intended for the progress of Colombia, and are also committed to implementing good practices for its achievement.
