Our commitment to the efficient use of water and energy stems from our Higher Purpose of generating smart energy for the prosperity of society. To this end, we work and engage with our stakeholders in order to seek environmental protection, social development and economic growth.
The new social exchanges confront us with big challenges, with the aim of mitigating the effects of climate change and the detriment of natural resources. The new cities, along with its renewed dynamics and interactions, technological progress, population growth, among other aspects, set the tone to act with different criteria, always with a view to the future and how we are prepared to face it.
At present, through our clients, progress with regard to the Comprehensive Energy Management (CEM) is evident, a strategy that forms part of our energy sales business, focusing on the great Colombian industry. Through this strategy, we aim at generating and guaranteeing a shared responsibility that channels our efforts in order for our clients to be more productive and improve their internal processes.
The CEM program’s goal is to raise awareness on the continuous improvement of the efficient use of energy in the industry by optimizing energy consumption, involving purchase, transformation, storage, final use and administration processes, as well as the interrelationship between the productive, technological, management and cultural processes. The program has allowed us to:
Recognition that translates into challenges
- Implement a methodology for the efficient and rational use of energy for the main industries in Colombia.
- Create interdisciplinary improvement teams to enhance the corporate culture through the rational and efficient use of energy.
- Strengthen technical and behavioral skills in energy management of floor employees and the management team of industrial clients.
- Raise awareness of operating and maintenance personnel for decreasing CO2 emissions, among other achievements.
Our commitment with energy efficiency through the CEM program was recently assessed by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the Colombian Association of Utility and Communications Companies (ANDESCO, for the Spanish original), the Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME, for the Spanish original), and the Territorial Development Fund (FINDETER, for the Spanish original) as part of the 7th Energy Efficiency Seminar held in Bogotá, and awarding us a prize in the Public Utility Companies and ICT categories.
This award is a way of identifying opportunities to continue sharing with our clients the best practices toward an increasingly comprehensive energy management.
Our challenge is still based on straightforward actions so that positive results are evident in our and our clients’ processes through the joint commitment we have already assumed. Internally, we keep working for the optimization of processes and creation of a corporate culture aimed at energy efficiency. For that reason, we keep developing new strategies and driving the CEM pilot project development at our San Carlos Hydroelectric Power Plant.
