The Sogamoso Hydroelectric Project, located in northeastern Colombia in the Department of Santander, entered the construction phase in February 2009. The Project's area of influence covers Betulia, Girón, Zapatoca, San Vicente de Chucurí, Los Santos, Lebrija, Barrancabermeja, Puerto Wilches and Sabana de Torres.
The Project will use a dam to take advantage of the flow of the Sogamoso River. According to studies, the installed capacity will be 820 MW with an annual average energy production of 5,056 GWh. The Project is expected to enter commercial operations at the end of 2013.
In addition to the Project itself, ISAGEN must build structures to replace the infrastructure that interferes with project construction:
